About us

A table that bridges two shores.

Al Sicomoro was born from the meeting of two cultures and one shared idea of hospitality: the warmth of a shared table, the slow rhythm of spices, the comfort of injera arriving at the centre like a map of flavours.

Every morning we prepare injera by tradition, letting the teff dough ferment for days. The meats are marinated in our house berbere — a blend of over twelve spices toasted and ground by us.

"Eating with your hands is not folklore. It is a way of remembering that food passes through the heart first." — Al Sicomoro family

The table experience

Four things that make us different.

— 01

Homemade injera

Three days of natural teff fermentation. No industrial flour, no shortcuts. Every morning we start from scratch.

— 02

House berbere

Twelve spices toasted and ground by us. It is the signature of every dish and cannot be found in any other kitchen in Milan.

— 03

Always shared.

One large plate in the centre of the table, eaten with hands. Cooking is gesture, story, memory. Never just food.

— 04

Coffee ceremony

After the meal, on request, the Ethiopian coffee ceremony. Beans roasted at the table, incense, three cups. Forty minutes of shared silence.

What an amazing experience. Food is delicious, the staff is lovely and a very beautiful venue as well. One of the best and most authentic African meals I've had outside of Africa.

From the very first bite, I was transported straight back home. The flavors are deeply authentic, rich, and comforting — exactly like a home cooked meal prepared with love. An absolute must.

An incredible surprise. Spicy meat stew, lentil stew, cubed beef and other vegetables perfectly spiced on a dish meant to be shared. Zaid is welcoming and Giulia an absolute delight. An absolute gem.

Excellent experience — food and service with kindness. If you're a local you'll be a regular, if you're a tourist it's a must try. Try the South African wine selection — you will not be disappointed.
